Season Diary 1

Entry #1: Maiden Voyage

First entry so lets see how it goes, its the morning of the title decider, Rangers v Killie, the joint league leaders duking it out at 3pm today knowing that at quarter to five one will have stolen a march in the championship race! Thats how its being billed in my head and so im sticking with it!

But really its our first big test after our wonderful start to the season, were the only team in Britain not to lose a goal so we can go to Ibrox with our heads held high and confident we can pook something. For me though i think our great start has simply given us the advantage of being able to write off these games, why go looking for anything at Ibrox and Parkhead or taking anything at home to either team if were taking points off everyone else, so long as the next two games, today adn Celtic at home next Saturday dont end in our own capitulations we can take something from them (apart from points) and still be in a reasonable position to go back to playing everyone ese, hopefully taking our earlier form with us.

For me thats the reality, however i have to admit im excited about this afternoon, Rangers are out of europe already (!) and have hardly set the heather alight (one good game against Celtic, where they always say form is thrown out the window) so maybe this is the best time to play them. Its been a particular joy to go into the international break top of the league, effectively a fortnight of bleating on about Champions league spots and stuff like that but as Saturday (today) rolled round i am thinking a point would be nice, a win would be amazing, sadly i wont be there to see it, working, i will be watching the results roll round on the vidiprinter on Soccer Saturday merely but thats fine, plenty of Killie fans will do the same as we have sold out our Ibrox allocation for this game. What a shitey allocation it is now as well too, a cake slice in the corner of the Broomloan and Govan Stands, small enough to be intimidated by the wee wankers hurling abuse at you all game instead of watching it, and if you retaliate, its you who are carted off down the stairs for abusive language or some other excuse, why would the stewards take on thousands of Rangers (and Celtic too, same deal at Parkhead) fans when they can exert some authority over a small band of travelling fans, its a no brainer. I remember when we first got promoted back to the premier league, we got the whole lower tier behind the goals, and filled it, then the novelty wears off and ticket sales shrink but even still the pathetic area we are housed now surely msut be against some sort of human rights!

Things that could go against us are JJ getting the manager of the month award for August, these awards always seem to bring a downturn in form, but if anyone can buck the trend it'll be us plus its not as if its Falkirk or Hamilton were playing were 9/1 underdogs against last years Uefa Cup Finalists! We have some semblence of form up there as well, victories include the three nil demolition when Cocard played, two one when MacIntyre cupped his hand to the fans when he scored and got booked, and not to forget our first season back when we won two one again this time in deepest darkest injury time, in fact lets relive that match here:

a constant of all those Ibrox victories is this; i wasnt at any of them, so why not again today? i am happy to revel in highlights, in fact a victory will see me tuning into the Rangers channel on sky for the full match, unless its a gubbing to remember, five nil anyone? Fernandez hattrick, Pascali and Wright with the other goals, they would probably back out of showing it!

Cant see too many lineup changes from Dundee Utd a fornight ago, especially as we have started playing a left midfielder on the left in the place of Gavin Skelton, would dearly love to see David Fernandez turning it on as he is getting better and better this season, up against probably boughera and maybe Broadfoot and i would love to see Conor Sammon get his first goal, and why cant it be a injury time winner, how sweet it would be. Head says draw, heart says 2-1.

Now the wait.
